How Objects Wear Things
January 29 — July 1, 2020

Curated by Amanda Sanfilippo Long

How Objects Wear Things is the first solo exhibition of Miami-based artist Joshua Veasey. Incorporating photography, fiber, and assemblage, this series of new large-scale collage works draws from the radically transitional landscape of Miami; its unmonumental landmarks and casual readymades created by chance, utility and survival. Veasey joins this documentary practice with his ongoing fascination with garments and deconstructing fashion – incorporating clothing that has been pulled apart, abstracted, embellished, and ultimately flattened into two-dimensional compositions. With these transformations, Veasey explores politics of identity, authenticity, and temporality.

The exhibition is presented by Oolite Arts as part of their Walgreens Windows initiative
